Campy Lex Luthors and Other Peeves

With Superman almost having returned to the theatres, the older movies are obviously on TV. Watching Superman I'm reminded again what a travesty the first film is - starting with Gene Hackman's immensly campy Luthor. He plays Luthor more like an annoying fly rather than an evil nemesis. And he has hair!!!! Added to the fact that Superman isn't the most intriguing superhero to begin with. Not much darkness there, and he's too perfect... I do like Michael Rosenbaum's Luthor though. He's quite menacing when he wants to be, though he can look a little like a rabbit at times. Can't wait to see Spacey's Luthor - should be a good blend of the slightly funny Hackman and sometimes too dark Rosenbaum.

ITV's F1 coverage gets worse and worse everyday... Blundell, Kravitz and Allen... Oh God, why can't we get decent commentators? And Steve Ryder who I liked to begin with... is just so bland. Plus all the Button pushing! *Barf* Why, why, why?

And then there's the incredibly one-sided world cup coverage. The World Cup isn't there like a Kurukshetra. Every other team is not incidental to England's campaign, and the tournament is not England's to win or lose. Gah, its nails-on-the-blackboard irritating.

Other Peeves - BIG Peeve - Ill Bureaucrats.
Being Broke.
Grrrr.

Avoidance, the Tower Bridge, Surrealism and other random musings

R. W. continues to evade and ignore. Avoidance techniques have been well and truly mastered - do all bureaucrats go to a special 'how to not pay attention' school? This is stupendously annoying - I am going to have to get irritable and teary to get any, that's right, attention. Demnading large sums of money for all my trouble should do it, then.

As a consequence I still have no idea when I'm going back home. And I'm so tempted to start quoting Cheers here its funny. ( And that ofcourse leads to that wonderful image of Joey sitting in a hotel room in London, missing NY. Hee. )

Spent a couple of days at Ks new flat ... its wonderful. The flat itself, the location, the view, its all there. Also met with K (but this is a different K, so lets call her K'). Went on an extra long walk from Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge, where I sat for a while and spoke to D. Gah, I miss Delhi. Then walked to the Millenium Bridge, and to the Tate Modern, which is next to the Globe. So wanted to see a play, but am totally and completely broke (which could be one of the motivating factors for my heretofore unprecedented long walk). The Tate was great - and there collection of surrealists was spectacular. They had many many Miros, and several Dalis including The Metamorphosis of Narcissus. Some of the stuff was really out there, though.

Oh, and they had Water Lily!!!! I stood there, looking at it, close enough to touch, thinking how he must have felt when he was painting it. Now that was surreal. Klimt was also there, though they had only one painting, and it was a portrait. Sigh. There were many Pollocks, which I couldn't look at for evaluating their potential in my drawing room.

So, for the random Musings part of the program.... I'm bored. And irritated. And bored. And in limbo. Sick of not knowing. Wanting to go home. Bored. Random Enough??

Sigh...

So Much for Alonso's mechanical failure.. grrrr........ he's getting very very irritating. And Brazil were very far from impressive in their game against Croatia, though it was funny how the media kept building them up to impossible heights and then wondered why they were disappointing. Now they're equally keen to suggest that Brazil will not win. Sigh.

Belated Happy Birthday Mummy! Realised I didn't put it in the one on the 9th, so I'm doing it now. Missed you very very much and love you ... see you soon!

I've got to walk up Constitution Hill before I leave Aber. Got to. Got to. Got to.

World Cup, Silverstone and other ruminations...

Race Weekend! I really hope MS puts Monaco behind him with a real dominating win at Silverstone. Way to shut British Press up for a while anyway. Hopefully Alonso will have a DNF, and God Forbid, we might actually have a fight for the title. Button's been praying for rain, and I must agree with him (euch! When did that happen?) - rain increases so very much the chances of a Ferrari victory... and if it wont rain in bloody Britain, where will it rain???

The biggest sporting event of the year is also going be GO! on Saturday. Brazil's my pick, but then anybody with half a brain would bet on them. I'm just concerned that the overwhelming favourite tag is going to be more of a curse and they're going to not win spectaculalrly... instead pull a France and depart in the first round. England's hopes IMO do depend on Rooney... but I don't think they'll pull it off thi year. Portugal are perennial underachievers as are Spain - I think if Brazil fail to step up, Germany, Italy or the Czechs (a good outside bet) will come to the partay!

There's an Isle of Wight festival!!! Which Coldplay is headlining - why don't ai find out about these things in time to actually bloody well buy the tickets!!!! Gah....

And double gah.

I totally should find something in the F1 lines... its a mtch made in heaven. though I still maintain Bernie should pay me for all the people I've turned into fans...

I'm a Ferrari 360 Modena!

You've got it all. Power, passion, precision, and style. You're sensuous, exotic, and temperamental. Sure, you're expensive and high-maintenance, but you're worth it.

"Take the Which Sports Car Are You? quiz.

Back to Blogging?

Just a one-line note to self: In a week or so I'll be back home! Its odd being in the weird kind of limbo that I will be in, with not having graduated here... but getting to work there, and wondering what to do next year... its all a mystery. Its like what Meredith says on Grey's Anatomy (love that, by the way - Mc Dreamy! Where can I order one?) When did we become adults? And how do we make it stop??
